Saonee Sarker named dean of Pamplin College or university of Business at Virginia Tech | VTx

Saonee Sarker, professor in the Department of Informatics in the College of Economics and Administration at Lund University, has been named the following dean of the Virginia Tech Pamplin School of Business enterprise.

Saonee (pronounced Sha-o-nee) Sarker will formally move into her new job on July 1, succeeding Roberta “Robin” Russell, who has served as interim dean since July 2022.

“Saonee’s potent academic management encounter, world viewpoint, and motivation to recruiting and retaining a various neighborhood of company school is effectively aligned with the plans and priorities of the Pamplin College or university of Business and the college,” explained Govt Vice President and Provost Cyril Clarke. “I appear forward to her becoming a member of our management crew and supporting her attempts to lead the university and progress Virginia Tech’s land-grant mission and global status.”

Sarker has been a professor in the Department of Informatics in the Faculty of Economics and Administration at Lund College due to the fact 2021. She is also a visiting professor in the Office of Administration at the London University of Economics.

Previously, Sarker was at the College of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce from 2013-21, the place she held many roles like senior affiliate dean for tutorial affairs, location coordinator of IT, Rolls Royce Commonwealth Commerce Professor, and professor of IT.

Sarker acquired a bachelor’s diploma from Lady Brabourne Faculty (Calcutta University), an MBA from the College of Cincinnati, and a Ph.D. from Washington State College.
